September 10, 2011 The Coordinator of the National Citizens' Initiative Participated in the Seminar Devoted to the Visa Liberalization in Eastern Partnership States and Implementation of Reforms in Media Industries
Yerevan—On September 8-10, in Aghveran the coordinator of the National Citizens' Initiative NGO Hovsep Khurshudyan participated in the seminar organized by the Yerevan Press Club with the help of the Armenian Office of Fridrich Ebert Foundation on the topic “The role of the Civil Society Forum of Eastern Partnership in the liberalization of visas and implementation of reforms in media industries.” Representatives of Armenian NGOs and Press took part in the seminar along with the participants of the Civil Society Forum of Eastern Partnership (EP CSF) from Poland, Belarus, Moldova and Ukraine. This was the last seminar of this year devoted to the implementation of the recommendations made by the EP CSF first working group on six subgroup sections. Yoanna Fomina, the expert of the Stephan Bator Foundation in Poland, made a report on the process of implementing recommendations on the EP CSS visa liberalization section. Stepan Grigoryan, the director of the Analytical Center on Globalization and Regional Cooperation, introduced the perspective of the Armenian civil society on the issue. The topic of the report made by Nadine Gogu, the director of Independent Press Center in Moldova, was the process of implementing recommendations on the EP CSS media reforms section. The situation of NGOs and press in Belarus was introduced by the member of the Journalists' Association of Belarus Yuras Karmanov. The current situation and the main problems of the Armenian press were presented by Nune Sargsyan, the executive director of Press Assisting “Internews” NGO. The reports made by Boris Navasardyan, the President of Yerevan Press Club (YPC), and Andrey Kulakov, the Project Director of Internews -Ukraine NGO, were devoted to the opportunities strengthening the cooperation between Civil Society Forum and NGOs of Eastern Partnership states in the fields of visa liberalization and media. In the end, Elina Poghosbekyan, the editor of YPC weekly newsletter, introduced to the participants of the seminar the research “The Media Fields of Eastern Partnership States” made by the media experts from EP six states which is ready to be published.
