April 6, 2011 NCI Holds a HeghaFORUM (“Revolutionary Forum”)
Yerevan—The National Citizens’ Initiative (NCI) today hosted the New Man group of the HeghaFORUM (Revolutionary Forum) initiative for a roundtable discussion. During the event the young members of the group and representatives of a variety of NGOs, including young NCI activists, examined their future plans of action. The discussants also underscored those values which they considered paramount for the New Man. The objective of the civic HeghaFORUM conference, which was organized in Yerevan on 2 April 2011, is to motivate the people with civil awareness and willpower, stimulate intellectual debate, form societal demand, and support individual and social awareness, self-organization, and mobilization for truly establishing a democratic state which is anchored in human rights and liberties. The work method of the Forum is the precept of open territory based upon two questions: What needs to be changed? And How? The discussions of the Forum do not have designated speakers and already determined topics. All Forum participants enjoy an equal opportunity to freely present their ideas, analyses, and proposals. The event moderators simply help so that the discussions are held most efficiently. The Forum’s initiatives on the army-related, social, employment, and environment affairs, change in the system of values, women’s liberty, and several other projects are currently at their formation phase. During today’s HeghaFORUM a proposal was made toward turning this initiative into a platform so as to coordinate the civil initiatives and invigorate the civil movements.
